The glance
Picture frames in different shapes and colours now limit their area, but their glance allows them to go beyond their frames and come next to you, ready to be stroked. These are Simona’s dogs. The faithful friends of everyday, precious guides, that have always been beside her walking along impracticable paths, helping her in the end to find the way home. How can one not love them? How can one not thank them? By means of this exhibition that is especially dedicated to them Simona manages to do so, employing the technique and the discretion of the person that knows that this is the entrance into a pure world, in which trust is not deserved because of curricula and competitions, but in which a stroke of the nose, of the ear, a paw in your hand, a deep glance are enough to become friends forever. Simona had certainly rediscovered this direct contact with the animal world during her voyages to far away lands, where despair says good morning and good night to you, and where the strength to face a new day without any change often stems from the closeness and warmth that only “they” can give you: she has not forgotten them. In the same way as she has not forgotten the suffering in the eyes of the children that were dying in her arms. Pure pain, as alive as the blade of a knife digging deep into the heart and that Simona had never been able to express. She has done so now, from Cavo, from the island that with its primitive nature has allowed her to go on with her voyage in the search for true values. Simona has thus exposed her soul, her deepest emotions and she has done so through the eyes that never lie, the eyes of her beloved animals. Dogs in different shapes and colours, with incredible expressions, but all using the same language that speaks of ancient feelings, that have never been forgotten.
